It’s seemingly unanimous that 2016 was a terrible year in America, mostly because of Trump surprising the world and upsetting Hilary Clinton to take the succeed President Barack Obama in the Oval Office. The other reason folks are clamoring at the offerings of 2016 is because of the amount of celebrities we lost this year.

That list is extensive with the names of Muhammad Ali, Maurice White of the world renown Earth Wind and Fire, and author of the Isis Papers, scholar, and OG in terms of Black Girl Magic, the honorable Dr. Francis Cress Welsing.

In terms of music released this year, man, I can’t stress enough how amazing of a time it is to be an independent artist, or even an artist in general because the opportunities to make a living from your music are theoretically limitless. Below are some of the albums in no particular order, that showed me the light at the end of the tunnel, confirmed my position on problems I’ve been working through, and just flat out KNOCKED in 2016.
